3 Days Tour from Fes to Merzouga Desert

Your journey starts early in the morning from Fes, where your driver will pick you up from your hotel or riad. You begin driving towards the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing through the beautiful town of Ifrane, often called the Switzerland of Morocco because of its clean streets, modern houses, and cold weather in winter.

After that, you continue to the cedar forest near Azrou, where you can stop to see wild monkeys living freely in nature. It’s a nice moment to relax, take photos, and enjoy the fresh mountain air. Then the road continues through the mountains until you reach Midelt, a small town where you can stop for lunch.

In the afternoon, the landscape slowly changes as you drive along the Ziz Valley, which is full of thousands of palm trees and small villages. The views here are amazing, especially from the panoramic stops where you can take beautiful pictures.

Later in the day, you arrive in Merzouga, where you will check in to your hotel near the dunes. You can relax, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the desert adventure the next day.

After breakfast, you will start exploring the desert area around Merzouga. You will take a 4x4 car to visit nearby places, including nomad families who live in simple tents. You will have the chance to drink tea with them and learn about their lifestyle in the desert.

Then you continue to visit a small village known for its Gnawa music, where you can enjoy traditional rhythms and learn about their culture. You may also visit Rissani, a local town with a traditional market where people from nearby villages come to sell and buy goods.

In the late afternoon, the highlight of your trip begins. You will ride camels into the Sahara Desert, crossing the golden sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. The ride is peaceful and slow, giving you time to enjoy the sunset over the dunes, which is one of the most beautiful moments of the trip.

After arriving at the desert camp, you will be welcomed with tea. You will have dinner, then sit around the fire while listening to Berber music played by local people. At night, you can look at the sky full of stars, far away from city lights, and enjoy the calm atmosphere of the desert.

You will wake up early to see the sunrise over the dunes, which is a very special and peaceful moment. After breakfast at the camp, you will ride camels back or take a 4x4 car to meet your driver.

Then you start your journey back to Fes, following the same road but with different views and stops along the way. You will pass again through the Ziz Valley, Midelt, and the cedar forest, where you may stop again to relax and enjoy the scenery.

In the afternoon or evening, you arrive back in Fes, where your driver will drop you off at your accommodation. Your 3-day desert tour ends here, but the memories of the Sahara will stay with you for a long time.
